The Kiwanis Club of Bartlesville gives out approximately $6600 in student scholarships every year. They are Senior of the Year, Sophomore of the Year, Tri County Tech Adult Student of the Year, Tri County Tech High School Student of the Year, and Bartlesville Central and Madison Girl and Boy of the Year.
The Senior of the Year Scholarship is given to one student at each of the 5 Washington County High Schools (Bartlesville, Caney Valley, Copan, Dewey and Wesleyan Christian). The application is sent to the area High School counselors in March. The application consists of essay questions. The scholarship is not based on academic performance, but on leadership and community involvement. A committee of Kiwanis members determine the winners from each school. Winners are announced at the Senior assemblies at each school. This Scholarship is $1000.
The Sophomore of the Year Award is also known as the Walter Hurst Sophomore of the Year Award. This is a TX/OK Kiwanis Foundation award; however, the Kiwanis of Bartlesville has used this award to highlight outstanding students in Washington Co. Like the Senior of the Year Scholarship, an award is given to one student from each of the 5 Washington County High Schools. The applications are sent to the schools at the end of January and are due back to the counselors in late February. This award is $100. From the 5 recipients, one is chosen by the committee to be sent on as a candidate for the Texas/Oklahoma Scholarship. The winners of the TX/OK Foundation Scholarship will be awarded $600 at the completion of high school and enrollment into college.
The Tri County Tech Adult/High School Students of the Year is a $500 scholarship. The winners come from the TCT students of the month that are nominated by their instructors. The winners are announced at the TCT Graduation.
The Madison/Central Outstanding Boy/Girl of the Year is selected by the middle school staff. This award is $50.

From the 5 winners, one is chosen to represent the Downtown Bartlesville Kiwanis club at the District level. The Sophomore chosen from the Texas - Oklahoma district will win a scholarship of $600 upon graduation from high school. Applications are due in the High School office by the first week in February, unless otherwise noted on the application and announced in February.
